We always suggest starting with our starter package and then upgrading to bigger packages if you need more space. Aside from upgrading, you can also purchase more space and bandwidth in smaller increments as often as you need for one flat rate.
Understanding Bandwidth and Disk Space:
Bandwidth is relative to the amount of visitors (traffic) you have to your site each month.
Disk Space is equal to the size of the files, pictures, and plugins that you upload to your site.
99% of web sites currently on the web use no more than 5 GB of bandwidth a month. It’s only sites that are expected to produce a large amount of traffic that will require more bandwidth. Sites like popular search engines or social media networks would require a lot more bandwidth.
Most web sites average around 150 MB - 300mb with a single web page taking up around 40-50KB. Simple html websites, personal blogs, business information pages, and brochures can get away with using 500mb. Bloggers, news and entertainment websites may need up to 5gb of space over a few years if you are not pruning or optimizing your content. E-Commerce sites which contain shopping carts, high resolution product pictures, and plugins may need 10gb or more.
Basically the more advanced and media rich your web site is, the more disk space and probably bandwidth you’ll need. But again, a reminder, you don’t have to go crazy. You can always add a few extra MB of GB to your plan at any time.
Which Plan is right for me?
If you are running a small website, mainly with text and a few images, you should be good with our starter hosting package. This will usually be enough space for single pages, informational websites, and websites with limited functionality.
If your website has a lot of images, has a lot of custom functionality and has more than 15 individual pages, you will would more comfortable with our 'Complete' hosting package. Plus get a free domain included with this package.
If you are running a very big website, blog, or eCommerce site with a lot of products, then you will be need our 'eCommerce' hosting package. Plus get a free domain included with this package.
